Q:
Does an HVAC motor and fan qualify as an exterior condensing component? Our HVAC motor and fan went out. We read into the fine print (annoying, confusing, and misleading) and it says that it does not cover exterior condensing components.

The problem with HWA and all insurance companies. They do not have a service/repair department that they can regulate. You have to pay 100.00 to get the "eyes on"estimate of what is wrong. Once it's "an active claim" the ball is in your court… more

Would anyone give this buisness a 5 star review?
A:
Believe the reviews. This company is not in America. We have been without ac for over a week in Texas in May. It's 91 right now. They try to wait you out. They screw around and loose your claim in hopes you will fix things yourself. Stay far away… more

I have to say the coverage seems to be good as I did shop around recently as I was extremely upset with poor response to claim, which the process is terrible. My water heater went out and it was going to be three to four days for them to get a plumber. Plumber came earlier but had to work directly with plumber. The first technician said nothing they could do to get plumbers to come earlier but called again and was told by another technician I could call plumber directly. I had to wait nearly two weeks to get any approval on replacement of water heater. Finally heard back from their consumer affairs concierge department after elevating. I was approved but going on over a month since this all began and still waiting on check reimbursement for the coverage amount. I was also told by their sales as I considered canceling that they are teaming up with AIG and working towards improving claim process by training their claims team technicians and contracted service providers. Hopefully things will improve before I make my renewal decision later this year for a third year of coverage.
I have used a few times that was simple visits that I am sure did not cost anything above my fixed fee and the only other time I felt service was good was when they quickly approved fixing my garage door opener. This favorable end to my first year of service that was paid by sellers when I bought the house led to my choice to renew home warranty. This second year has started a bit rough.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Long story made short, the claim took approximately two months to resolve, and I was without a dishwasher the entire time during the holidays. In the end, HWA gave me only a fraction of the cost to replace my dishwasher. HWA is a waste of money and time. I am cancelling after 7 years of paying premium totaling over $6000. Learn from my mistake and do not waste your money with HWA. Not sure if any other home warranty companies are any better or inconceivably worse than HWA.
Details: My dual drawer dishwasher failed so HWA sent a technician who determined the computer board needed replacement. HWA sent an email stating, "Great News from HWA, We are Replacing your System" and offered only $195 to settle the claim on a $2100 dishwasher. I disputed the amount and they immediately increased it to $591 stating this was there maximum payout for a dishwasher. The case manager would not let me plead my case to anyone at a higher level of management and became frustrated and combative with my persistence. Then, pressured me to sign the approval of the claim payout stating the offer would expire in less than 2 weeks which I reluctantly did. The payment was sent in the form of a Lowe's electronic gift card limiting me to buy from Lowe's inventory. Terrible experience.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - G D.Aledo, TX0271Mar 19, 2024
Zero stars if I could.
Back in late November, I called to get the dishwasher repaired.
First repair company could not come because they were 3 hours away.
Another company was able to come before Christmas and they showed up, I paid my $100 and they said it needed a part. They could come after Christmas due to the holidays.
The part did not come so we rescheduled. The part did not come again so we rescheduled. The part... you get the idea. This happened at least 8 times (I lost count). It was now late January/early February so I call to get a new repair co, one that can get a part so HWA said it would take up to a week to cancel my claim and order a new company, ugh but I had no other option.
3rd company says, you guessed it, you are not in our service area. So I call HWA and they want to do the week wait rigamarole. I say no, find me someone and they said ok give us 24 hours. I also called back and said , can I get my $100 back or at least not pay company #4 and they claimed I was not even a customer and then I said fine this not customer wants her $100 and my dishwadher fixed in a timely manner and they claimed they could not connect me to a manager or supervisor.
Then company 4 says ok we might be able to help, but we have to call HWA. Meanwhile, I let HWA know that and said I am not paying the additional $100 and they said I cannot do that or talk to a "higher up" unless I pay my entire year of HWA in full. Meanwhile company 4 calls back, they cannot fix it so they said call HWA for a replacement.
HWA said they will give $250 in a Lowe's gift card to replace the dishwasher since it is now nearing the end of March - 4 months of issues.
Lowe's charges $219 to install the dishwasher so how would I find a dishwasher for $31? Nowhere! HwA said, well we will replace the broken unit, yes, but no we do not pay in full to replace the broken unit so if you want to speak with a supervisor, then buy your washer with the $250 gift card and send us the receipt and then we can forward you to a supervisor to see if HWA will pay more for the replacement washer.
We have paid $400 in monthly fees since this started...how about, I dunno, customer service? Maybe use my monthly fees for a purpose? With my $500 wasted, I could have a nice washer by now.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Priyankan C.Los Angeles, CA05Apr 17, 2024
they will deny all claims. what's worst is when a $5000 appliance gives out. they offer $500 since it's their policy to offer wholesale costs. total fraud.

Hands down worst warranty company. Of they can't fix it they offer you a third of what it costs to replace it. Save your money and don't get scammed like me!

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE COMPANY - don't do business with this company. You will be ripped off. First, they sent the wrong tech out and charged me. I took me almost 2 hours to straighten that out. Then they sent the correct tech who identified that my washing machine had a cracked drain pump which is NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR for this type of part. Home Warranty of America denied my claim and would not fix the part because they said it "cracked" and that is not normal wear and tear. It is a plastic part. The service tech said that the crack was CLEARLY caused by normal wear and tear but they would not cover it. So after spending a week with thier "customer service" department which is also terrible, they would not cover my claim. I cancelled. Don't do business with Home Warranty of America. They are cheap scammers.

HWA is the worst ! My furnace broke down 8 days ago, the technician showed up a day later, identified that the heat exchanger and some associated parts were worn out, need to be replaced. Luckily the heat exchanger is still under manufacturer warranty. That's a big break for HWA, However HWA refused to pay for the other parts needed for the completion of the repair. It's clearly stated in the contract, that for warranted parts, they are secondary. They need to pick whatever is not covered by manufacturer warranty, that's what is this home warranty is all about. It's blunt breach of contract. I've brough this to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and plan to file a suit if they still refuse to cover the repair.
Total crooks. everytime when you need their service, they will trying hard to find excuses not cover you cost.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ilona K.CA, CA031Aug 23, 2023
The worst company ever to deal with. No help in US, calls are outsourced. The customer has been without AC for almost 3 months. They failed to resolve the issue, sent the defective product, caused an unreasonable wait for the tenant who had to leave and stay in hotel. Do notdo
Business with this company. They are by far the worst! Will be held accountable for sure.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kris R.Clovis, CA104Sep 8, 2023
Chose them initially for our home warranty for our home and I regretted that decision almost immediately. Customer service was very difficult to communicate with and going through the claims process was a pain in the butt. The Case Manager assigned to me (Dennisha D and Chantel M) we're not only late in our scheduled appointment, but Dennisha was both combative and rude over the phone which prompted me to cancel my policy immediately and take my business to a more professional group of people.
If you need a home warranty, look elsewhere.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Unoy T.Eastvale, CA4973Sep 11, 2023
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!! Also known as Choice Home Warranty...
$100 for technician to show up not do anything and saying it's not covered. It's impossible to reach your case advisor and emails were being ignored. Scheduling a 15 minute conference with the advisor is a long wait. I guess 3 times is a charm for this company, after 2 months of waiting. So, goodluck for any claim you'll file- it will take months to talk to someone and be denied at the end.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
