Whitesville's Coleman fans 15 in 1-hitter

Trevor Coleman struck out 15 in a 1-hitter as Whitesville open a tight game with eight runs in the fifth of Tuesday’s 9-0 win over Andover.

Coleman also had two hits and Cole Tracy went 3-for-4 with a triple and a double and two RBI for Whitesville (6-4).

“We had six hits in that fifth inning and broke it open and Trevor does what he does,” said Whitesville head coach Scott Ellison.

Jason Reynolds 2 hits, including a three-run single to highlight the Blue Jays’ big fifth inning. Ethan Middaugh also went 2-for-2 with two runs scored for Whitesville.

Alex Emery singled in the second inning for Andover’s only hit. Andover (0-11) loaded the bases in the third with a walk and two errors, but Coleman escaped the jam with two strikeouts.

Whitesville hosts Belfast 5 p.m. Thursday and Andover

Fillmore 14, Letchworth 2

LETCHWORTH — Sam McCumiskey had three hits and two RBI and Reilly Blocho added two hits and two RBI in Fillmore’s 14-2 win over Letchworth on Tuesday.

Nick Stenzel allowed one run over five innings for the win, striking out two without a walk. Fillmore visits Canaseraga on Thursday.

Scio 20, Canaseraga 1

SCIO — Scio smacked 22 hits and scored in every inning of Tuesday’s 20-1 win over Canaseraga.

Trevor Claypool went 4-for-5 with a double and four RBI and Devon Green had three hits and two RBI for Scio (11-0). Chris Bridge earned the win, striking out seven and walking three over four innings, and also went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored.

“The highlight for me was that all 15 of our players scored at least one run,” said Scio head coach Kevin Mole. “The way our regulars cheered for the guys that don’t get to play every game was terrific.”

Claypool also struck out five without a walk in three innings of relief for the Tigers, who host Archbishop Walsh 5 p.m. today.

Caleb Livingston broke up the shutout in the sixth inning with an RBI single. Canaseraga (1-7) hosts Fillmore on Thursday.

Belfast 6, Hinsdale 1

HINSDALE — Belfast won the opener of Tuesday’s doubleheader at Hinsdale, 6-1, then the second game was suspended in the sixth inning due to darkness.

Belfast also led the nightcap, 7-6, when the game was called in the sixth. The game will be finished Monday night in Belfast.

Softball

Canaseraga 18, Scio 8

SCIO — Autumn Brewster and Tori Stephens had four hits each as Canaseraga powered to an 18-8 win over Scio on Tuesday.

Brewster went 4-for-4 with four runs scored, two RBI, and two stolen bases and Stephens had four RBI for Canaseraga (5-6). Leslie Moose added three hits and an RBI to support winning pitcher Kiana Sleight, who struck out nine and walked one.

“They were just hitting the ball all over the place,” said Scio coach Irv Newton.

Decorah Hutchinson was a home run short of the cycle and drove in three runs and Sydney Wight had two doubles for Scio (7-7). Kristen Bowker added two hits for the Lady Tigers, who visit Hinsdale on Friday.

Canaseraga hosts Fillmore on Thursday.

Fillmore 18, Friendship 1

FRIENDSHIP — Fillmore scored in six of the seven innings in rolling to an 18-1 win over Friendship on Tuesday.

Sam Mawn led Fillmore (6-5) with three hits, including a double, and two runs scored. Fillmore won despite having only eight hits, benefitting from eight Friendship errors.

Katelyn Sylor tossed a six-hitter with nine strikeouts and a walk for Fillmore, which visits Canaseraga on Thursday.

Cherish Pierce and Gwen Rhodes (RBI) had two hits each for Friendship (4-8), which goes to Oswayo Valley today.

Wilson struck out 12 without a walk for Belfast.

HINSDALE — McKenzie Miller had three hits and Johnie Wilson twirled her second two-hitter of the day in Belfast’s 17-0 win over Hinsdale to complete a sweep of Tuesday’s doubleheader.

Wilson struck out nine and walked one for Belfast (11-1), which visits Whitesville on Friday.

Hinsdale (2-11) combined to walk 19 batters and commit seven errors in the two losses. The Lady Bobcats host Scio on Friday.
